At Chughtai International School, the early years are seen as a distinct, powerful stage of human development. Research

Our Image of the Child
Children at this age are natural observers, problem solvers and meaning makers.
They question everything, form theories, experiment and revise their ideas through interaction with materials, spaces and people. They bring their own culture, home
language, lived experiences and identity into the classroom. At Chughtai
International School, we honor this by creating an environment where children’s
voices matter, their questions guide inquiry and their agency is respected.
Learning Through Play
Play is the central driver of learning in the early years. It allows children to explore ideas, test possibilities, think critically, collaborate and express themselves. Through
play, children develop the essential approaches to learning skills that help them
become confident lifelong learners. Our schedule includes long periods of
uninterrupted play, both indoors and outdoors, so children can immerse themselves
in discovery, creativity and social interaction.
Symbolic Exploration and Play
Young learners use many symbolic languages, gestures, drawing, movement,
pretend play, storytelling, early writing, numbers, patterns and visual arts. We create opportunities for children to express themselves in multiple ways and to understand
that their marks, creations and symbols carry meaning. Literacy and numeracy
emerge naturally through rich experiences such as storytelling, music, cooking, block
play, construction, nature walks and real-life problem solving
A Transdisciplinary Approach
In the early years at Chughtai International School, learning is not taught in separate
subjects. Instead, children explore broad, meaningful themes that connect to real
life. Inquiry flows across language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts and personal development. Children build understanding holistically, making sense of

At Chughtai International School, our Early Years program is grounded in the philosophy of the IB
Primary Years Program (PYP), which recognizes early childhood as a vital and precious stage of life.
