Ground-breaking academic Dr Mariam Chughtai, a Harvard-qualified educationist, has made it her life mission to cultivate nationwide social change through education. Dr Chughtai first made inroads into the sector by founding the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) School of Education upon returning to Pakistan. Over a three-year landmark term as Director at the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, she introduced the nation’s first common core National Curriculum. The multi-phased initiative, implemented over 2021-2024, enjoys all-province endorsement. Dr Chughtai also superintends Pakistan Programs at the Harvard University Mittal South Asia Institute. Chughtai International School – Pakistan’s premier International Baccalaureate (IB) Early Years Candidate School – constitutes an integral part of her dream for Pakistan. Engaging the nation’s young, she believes, is key to surmounting the prevailing national learning emergency.
